Growing up, Justin, known to many as just Marty, enjoyed baseball, basketball, golf, and horses. He was a constant figure at his dad’s veterinary clinic and eventually went on to study in Oklahoma to become a farrier. He worked with his dad at the Martinsen Vet Clinic in St. Paul until 2020 when his dad retired.
In 2003, he welcomed his daughter Taytum and immediately took to being a dad himself, showing up for ballgames, school field trips, homework problems, and annual trips to the College World Series.
In 2017, he found Amy and life eventually took him to Lincoln where he worked at Hillcrest Animal Clinic before taking a position at Fed Ex. In his free time, Justin could be found at the golf course, at a concert, tending to dogs and horses, reading, watching sports or history documentaries, coaching youth sports, or helping someone in need. Justin stepped into his role as step-father quite seamlessly and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for any of his 5 children. When his 2 grandchildren came along, he embraced the grandpa role wholeheartedly and nothing brought him more joy than spending time with them. No matter the need, he was always there and he was the best at showing up. Justin had the kindest soul, was a friend to everyone, and the void he leaves is immeasurable.
Justin is survived by his partner Amy Clark, his daughter Taytum Cramer, his mother Laura Martinsen, his siblings Erik (Rosa, Rollie) and Andrea Martinsen, his stepchildren, Daesia, Evan, Jackson, and Rylan, and his grandchildren Aaliyah and Anthony. He is preceded in death by his father Andy L. Martinsen.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, May 24th at Roper and Sons South Chapel (3950 Hohensee Dr. Lincoln, NE)
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, May 24th at Roper and Sons South Chapel.
