Squirrel served in the U. S. Army during Vietnam and Army National Guard and was a member of the VFW and DAV. He was a truck driver for many years.
Family members include his wife, Fayetta; daughter Monica Babcock (Doug), Lincoln; son Andy Showen (Karen), Vancouver, WA; brothers Paul Splain, Thayer and Doug Splain (June), Argyle, TX; daughter-in-law Staci Wagner, Lincoln; granddaughters Trinity and Saylor Babcock, Haley Wagner (fiancé Nick Berte); nieces and nephews and special nephew Justin Splain (Laura), and brother-in-law Greg Strubbe. Preceded in death by his parents, sisters Yvonne Schreurs and SuAnn Strubbe, brother Dean, son Jerry Wagner.
Graveside service: 10:00 am Thursday, June 25, 2026, Wyuka Cemetery. 3600 O Street, Please meet at the “O” Street entrance.
