Mark was born on March 7, 1951, in Marion, Iowa to Deloss and Vivian (Ewalt) Clark. He graduated from Marion High School before continuing his education at Kirkwood Community College, the University of Iowa, and Creighton University in Omaha.
Mark proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. Throughout his career, he worked as a computer operator, earning the respect of those around him through his dedication, dependability, and strong work ethic.
A faithful servant to his community and church, Mark devoted countless hours to volunteering at Capitol City Christian Church. For 15 years, he taught Sunday school and participated in ministries that delivered backpacks, food, and clothing to those in need. He was a generous and compassionate man who was always willing to lend a helping hand to family, friends, neighbors, or anyone who needed him.
Mark loved good conversation, whether it was filled with laughter or thoughtful reflection. He enjoyed living an active life and had a passion for biking, swimming, hiking, and racing. One of his greatest joys was the companionship of dogs, and throughout his life there was always a beloved dog by his side. Mark also cared deeply for the environment. He believed in taking care of the Earth and was known for recycling everything he could, leaving the world a little cleaner because of his thoughtful example.
Mark is survived by his loving wife, Marcia Clark; his stepson, Russell Black and his wife, Kathy Black; his sister-in-law, Wilma Clark; his niece and nephew, Scott and Julie Reyhons; their children, Allison and her husband, Tyler, and their children, Maddox and Kohen; Austin and his wife, Jamie; and his step-grandchildren, Ryan Black and his wife, Lexa Black, and Reid Black. He was preceded in death by his parents, Deloss and Vivian Clark, and his brother, John Clark.
Mark was an honest soul who lived a quiet and simple life. He touched many lives through his kindness, humility, generosity, and unwavering willingness to help others. His legacy of service, integrity, and compassion will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Celebration of Life will be 2:00 pm Friday, July 31, 2026, Capitol City Christian Church, 7800 Holdrege Street with a dessert reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Children’s Ministry at Capitol City Christian Church.
