George Leland Darlington, 87, passed away on June 14, 2026, in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was born on May 25, 1939, to Kenneth and Rosalie (Fravel) Darlington in Charleston, West Virginia.

George is survived by his wife, Susan; daughters, Lisa (Dave) Darlington Johnson and Julia Miller; son, David (Megan) Darlington; grandchildren, Taylor (Sarah) Darlington, Molly (Shane Brandt) Darlington, Elise (Trevor) Smith, Lukas Darlington, Bree (Treyson) Miller Bott, Corbin (Taylor) Miller, Molly (Marcus) Johnson Payne, Jake (Samantha) Johnson, and Noah (Adrienne) Johnson; 7 great-grandchildren; and sister, Nancy (Greer) Werner. He is preceded in death by his parents and his son-in-law, Bryce Miller.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Faith Bible Church (6201 S 84^th St, Lincoln, NE 68516).

Those moments had a profound impact on my life, and I am truly grateful for the support and kindness you always showed me throughout the years. Your faith in Christ did not go unnoticed. To the Darlington Family: My condolences and prayers for the loss of this great man. On home NE football games for the past 14 to 15 years he would come walking or riding across the West Stadium floor to ride on my elevator to his seat. He always called me ‘darlin’ and asked if I was ready for the game. After the game, he rode back down on my elevator evaluating the mistakes if we lost. Then saying, “See you sweetie next game”. I’ve never met a nicer man. What a jewel!!! RIP Coach. I hope our paths cross again someday.
