David Bruce Taylor PhD, 71, passed away on August 6, 2026, in Lincoln, NE. He was born on February 19, 1955, to Lloyd and Nancy (Kiebler) Taylor in South Bend, IN. David attended Washington High School in South Bend, Indiana class of 1977. He received a PhD from the University of Notre Dame in the field of medical entomology. He worked for the USDA ARS in veterinary entomology, investigating New World screwworm (Cochliomyia homnivorax) and stable fly (Stomoxys calcitrans). David was an adjunct professor, emeritus, at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, and editor-in-chief of the Journal of Medical Entomology. David was an American Orchid Society certified orchid judge and was active in the Omaha Orchid Society.
