A tireless worker, he became owner of Hogemeyer-Palmer Construction. Fifty-three years ago, he met the love of his life, Beverly (Allen) Palmer, and earned the title of “husband,” along with son-in-law Merrill and Margaret Allen and brother-in-law Sharon (Allen) and Robert Olmsted and David and Susan Allen. Bev and Bruce’s love made him a father to Krissa N. Palmer-Hamric and James D. Palmer, and later a father-in-law to Morgan (Martens) Palmer and Brandon Hemmerling. He was a beloved uncle to his nieces and nephews, a godfather to his godchildren, and a loyal friend to countless people. One of his most cherished titles, “Papa,” was given by Andrew “Palmer,” Willa, and Alex Hamric, and Greenlee and Dashell Palmer, and he welcomed Andrew’s fiancée, Brooke, with open arms. Preceded in death by his parents and parents-in-law.
Bruce left this world on his 80th birthday, October 18, 2026. He will be remembered for his tireless work ethic, unbreakable strength, and unconditional love he shared with all of us.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 6th, 2026 at Roper and Sons Midtown Chapel (4300 O Street) with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes contributions toward Bruce’s grandchildren’s college education. Checks may be made payable to Beverly Palmer, with “college funds” in the memo line. Contributions may also be sent by Venmo to @Bev-Palmer, with “college funds” in the memo.
