Gayle was born on October 22nd, 1955 in Seymour, IN to James & Luceil Bachman. Growing up, Gayle moved frequently with her family throughout the northeastern US. She graduated from Grand Island High School and Doane College. Gayle was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Gayle worked for over 30 years at the Nebraska Department of Human Services in a variety of capacities.
An avid traveler, she enjoyed cruising, and visited all 50 states, more than 40 countries on 6 continents. She enjoyed quilting, and had made over 100 quilts often times sharing with family and friends to celebrate special milestones. Gayle was a devoted grandmother who loved spending time with her grandchildren whether volunteering at school, or supporting at events from the crowd.
Gayle lived with multiple sclerosis for 30 years, overcame thyroid cancer, cared for her husband following his dementia diagnosis, and met every challenge with resilience and courage.
Gayle is survived by her husband, Michael Kelly (Wahoo); son, Michael
Kuehn & wife Jaime and grandchildren Cadence, Avery, and Lincoln (Omaha); daughter, Amanda Kuehn and grandson Riley (Lincoln); mother, Luceil Lush (Grand Island); sister, Lea Bachman & husband Phil Slater (Samamish, WA); step sister, Cindy Humphrey & husband Loren (Grand Island); step brother, Steve Lush & wife Koreen (Bellevue); as well as many extended family and friends.
Gayle was preceded in death by her father, James Bachman; stepfather, Rolla Lush; step brother, Bob Lush.
