Judith ‘Judy’ A. Petersen, 87, Lincoln, passed away on July 6, 2026. Born on June 7, 1939, to John and Doris (Bohner) Kobel in Elgin, IL. Judy graduated from Lincoln High School and the Lincoln General Hospital School of Nursing. Her nursing career took her to Lincoln General Hospital, Madonna Rehab Hospital and Lincoln Public Schools. Judy was a member of Southgate United Methodist Church.

Family members include her husband, Roger; children Greg (Dineen) Vlasnik, Amy Vlasnik (Scott Clayton); stepdaughters Lori (Darren) Brown and Traci (Hossein Tavana) Petersen; grandchildren Aaron (Kim) Vlasnik, Joel (Amber) Vlasnik, Ryan (Lindsey) Rudsinski, Trevor (Calli) Rudsinski, Rachel Brown, and Brandon Brown; Great-grandchildren, Avery, Hazel, Jaxon and Clark; sister Polly Russell and brother Jon Kobel. Preceded in death by her parents, sisters Mary Ellen Kobel and Charlene Cochell.

Funeral Service will be September 5^th at 11a.m., at Southgate United Methodist Church (3500 Pioneers Blvd). Luncheon to follow funeral service.

Memorials may be given to Southgate United Methodist Church or Madonna Rehab Hospital.

Thoughts and prayers to Roger and all of Judy’s family. Judy was a classmate of mine at Lincoln General Hospital School of Nursing. She was a special nurse who had great compassion for her patients.

Judy will be missed so much. Kevin and I will always remember and cherish our cabin stays at Mahoney Park, the Farkel games, eating at The Bend, and celebrating all the milestone moments in between for the past 40 years!
