After graduating from Grayslake High School in 1955, Sally went to work at Ft. Sheridan, IL as a budget accountant. After 35 years, Sally retired. Shortly after retirement she moved to Florida. Before moving to Florida, Sally enjoyed bowling and water barrel fights at Fireman’s Days in Round Lake, IL. After moving to Florida, she became involved in community events; Firefighters Combat Challenge in Deerfield Beach, FL, Pioneer Days, Founders Day, Deerfield Beach Historical Society, Crossing Guard, and on the board of her neighborhood and party planning committee.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents William and Alyce Friend, brother and sister-in-law William and Barbara Friend, brother-in-law Don Jones and niece Kathy Jones Price.
Sally is survived by her sister Linda Jones, Round Lake, IL; her children Cheryl (Steve) Roberts, Lincoln, Michael and Gina Schauf, Randolph, WI, Jeff (Lisa) Schauf, Twin Lakes, WI, Jean (Chris) Baum, Paddock Lake, WI; 9 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 14 great great grandchildren; 2 nieces and 1 nephew.
Sally touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed.
Memorial service: 11:30 am Thursday, June 18, 2026, Roper and Sons Midtown Chapel, 4300 O Street.
