Brian was born in Grand Island, Nebraska on Friday, November 17, 1978 to Roger and Kristi (Olsen) Toy. In 1984 Brian and family moved to Lincoln, Nebraska. Beginning in 2003 until Brian’s passing, he resided with his father Roger Toy, and in 2004 his stepmom, Susan in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Brian was raised by Roger and Kristi to know and love Jesus as a young man. Brian continued to love Jesus, he would listen to his Christian music CD’s, and we could hear him singing at the top of his lungs to the music.
Brian loved to give those he cared for nicknames. His father was “Homeboy” and his stepmom “Sweetie.”
Brian is the big brother to Cherise Marie Toy aka “sista” and Alicia Anne (Nick) Sherrill “the baby.” Brian loved “sweetie’s” children, Joshua Ray (Michelle), Nikcole (Riley) Cleal, and Zachariah Ray. He was Uncle to Grady and Maezie [Alicia], Jared and Gavin [Nikcole], and Raevyn and Kenadee [Zachariah].
Brian was deeply loved by his family.
Brian received a Certificate from Lincoln High School on June 7, 1997.
Throughout Brian’s life he participated in Special Olympics. He played softball, participated in track, played basketball, excelled at bowling, and turned into a fish in the water.
Brian went on several trips with The ARC of Lincoln. Brian enjoyed Wednesday Night Club and later Thursday Fun Club at the Auld Recreation Center.
Brian enjoyed traveling with his family for fun trips to Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri, “Fire in the Hole” was one of his favorite rides! He also enjoyed Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun in Kansas City. Brian even traveled to Jamacia for his sister’s destination wedding with his own personal chaperone, Chris Hansen.
Brian loved life!
Brian enjoyed motorcycle rides with his Uncle Rob, aka “Roomie.”
Brian’s favorite singers were Elvis and Garth Brooks. Brian was super talented. He played his own guitar. He wrote songs for his “sweetie” and would often put on a recital for her as a surprise. Brian loved coloring, watching his large collection of DVDs, and listening to his CDs . We cannot forget Brian’s dance moves – music was part of his entire life. He was truly amazing.
Brian was known for Brianisms’. He could in just a few words change your day from being super hard to being truly hilarious. Brian was truly a gift from God to everyone.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at Roper and Sons South Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Drive in Lincoln. A visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service. Family only internment at Yankee Hill Cemetery in Lincoln, Nebraska. Family is wearing Elvis, Garth Brooks, Superheroes shirts in Honor of Brian. Dress is casual.
