She was born October 9, 1947 to Joseph and Mildred (Hake) Abraham in Columbus, Nebraska. Nancy was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church, (Shell Creek) She graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1969 with a medical technology degree. She then began her career at UNMC in Omaha, Nebraska, eventually moving to the FACTS office (a UNMC division) before retiring in 2015. She moved to Lincoln to be near her family in 2016.
Nancy enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved flower gardening, traveling to western national parks, and visiting the coasts of Oregon and the Carolinas. Family vacations to Rocky Mountain National Park, first with her parents and sister, and then with her sister, brother-in-law, her nieces and their families, happened for many years.
She is survived by her sister Carol (Gary) Dunker, and her beloved nieces Christa Dunker and April (CJ) Cooper; her great nieces, and nephews, Evan Dunker, Easton, Brynley, Dathin, Bryelle and Aceson Cooper (whom she dearly loved), and by her aunt Elaine Hake of Columbus, Nebraska, and many cousins. Her family will miss all the regular gatherings and fun times we had together.
Her parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and several cousins have preceded her in death.
Private internment with family present will be at Calvary Cemetery, rural Columbus, on June 2, 2026, with the Rev. Gary Dunker officiating. A celebration of life and memorial service will follow on July 11, 2026, at 11:00 am at Roper and Sons South, Lincoln, Nebraska, with the Rev. Gary Dunker officiating. A lunch will follow the service.
Memorials may be given to the Calvary Cemetery perpetual maintenance fund in Nancy’s honor.
