Billy D. Bodfield, 76, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on June 4, 2026. Born to Buck and Rachel Bodfield in Lincoln on July 15, 1949, in the middle of 8 brothers and one sister. He was a graduate of Lincoln High school and served in the Marine Corps Reserves. He had 4 children and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, drinking beer with his brothers and was always up for a competitive game of cards.

Billy is preceded in death by his parents Verni “Buck” and Rachel (Schenaman) Bodfield, Brothers: Roger, Ronnie, Joby, Jimmy, Tommy, Ricky and numerous family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Sandy, children; Scott, Jeff (Brandi) Bodfield, Darcy (Ryan) Fulton, Tanner Bodfield and Chance Straight, sister; Sharon (Rod) Mills, grandchildren; Derek Spiczka, Branden (Ali) Bodfield, Taylor (John) Walter, Dalten (Lexi) Bodfield, Lane Devor, Nate Bodfield, Zach Bodfield, Tairren Scott, and Ida Mae Scott, great grandchildren; Maylynn Devor and Beau Bodfield, as well as numerous other cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Casual Attire is requested.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2026, from 5-7 pm at Metcalf Funeral Home (245 N. 27th St.) Funeral Service will be Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Metcalf Funeral Home at 10 am with graveside services to follow at Roca cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at Trackside in Waverly at 1pm.

Bill was like a grandpa to me, I spent many occasions sitting in the driveway with him talking about life over a beer. He would include me in camping trips, fishing, and hunting excursions. During a fishing trip I remember him setting the hook and before he could start reeling he handed me the pole to reel in a huge catfish. During a 4th of July party he pulled my wife aside (who he pestered me for years to marry) to point at me and tell her “he’s one of mine”. I have hundreds of stories and memories to tell but these especially I will never forget. I love Bill like family, always have and always will. I’ll see him again in paradise some day so until then it’s not goodbye it’s see you later Bill!
