Lorna M. Johnson

September 20, 1932 - June 9, 2026

Lorna Marie Johnson, 93, of Lincoln, passed away on June 9, 2026. She was born on September 20, 1932 in Brush, Colorado to John and Letha (Renshaw) Johnson. Her parents farmed most of their lives. The family moved to Perkins County when she was young. She enjoyed her childhood. On the farm they raised cattle, chickens and gardened as well as taking eggs once a week to Madrid NE to sell. To allow her to attend high school she lived with her aunt in Grant during the week. Her dad would bring her home for the weekends.  The family frequently attended church together. Her grandfather came from Sweden and died at a young age. Her grandmother lived with them for a long time. Her dad could talk and sing in Swedish and sang in church. Lorna always enjoyed music, playing bingo, working on puzzles, and attending church wherever she lived.

Lorna worked as a Nurse’s Aide at Bryan Memorial Hospital for 18 years until retirement. While working there, her future Stepdaughter (Margaret) introduced Lorna to her father, Clarence Johnson. They were married and lived on a farm by Valparaiso NE, attending Immanuel Lutheran church in Ceresco; NE. Lorna moved back to Lincoln in 1991 after Clarence passed away. She became a member of the First Lutheran Church and the Lydia Circle.

I went to school with Lorna and her brother Lawrence in the 1940’s. We attended school district #72. It was located about 5 miles northwest of Elsie,Ne in Perkins County. I scooped corn to the corn sheller with her Dad when neighbors shelled corn. I’m glad she had a long life and may she rest in peace.
