Delbert Simon Adam, 65, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Delbert was born October 25, 1946 in Wilcox, Nebraska to Elmer and Velma (Fegter) Adam.
Delbert grew up on a farm in the rural Hildreth area in Franklin County. He attended Ash Grove rural school then attended and graduated from Wilcox High School in 1965. After graduation he worked on the family and neighborhood farms. Delbert then proudly served in the U.S. Air Force in Thailand during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1971. In 1973 he attended and graduated with a degree in accounting from the Lincoln School of Commerce in Lincoln. After unsuccessful attempts of finding a job, he returned to work on the family and neighborhood farms. In early 1990 he moved to Lincoln where he worked jobs in shipping and receiving for Premium Protein Products, Cooks Ham Inc, Kawasaki Motors, Novartis, and Pfizer. Delbert lived in the city but his heart was always in the country. He enjoyed looking at the crops, old and new farmsteads, and was a John Deere tractor enthusiast. He also enjoyed watching football, basketball, car and horse racing.
Delbert is survived by his father, Elmer Adam of Franklin; brother, Raymond (Henrietta) Adam of Lincoln; sister, MyRene Magdsick (Jim Peterson) of Minnesota; sister, Charlene (Maynard) Schriner of Hildreth; sister-in-law Laura Adam of Kearney and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Delbert was preceded in death by his mother, Velma and brother, Wilbur.
A Memorial Service will be Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Franklin, Nebraska. A luncheon will follow the service.
