Carol L. Lampshire

September 3, 1925 - April 28, 2013

Carol L. Lampshire, 87, of Lincoln, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013. She was born in Lincoln, NE at Lincoln General Hospital on September 3, 1925 to Dr. Hubert and Marguarite (Burton) Capek. As a young girl she was Queen of Jobs Daughters.

She went to Irving Junior High School, and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1943. She graduated from the University of Nebraska with her BA in Dietetics and Institutional Management in 1947. She married Dr. Earl Lampshire on June 22, 1947 in Plymouth Church in Lincoln, NE.

After graduation and marriage, worked as a Dietitian in Miller & Paine Department Store, restaurant and tea room. She then had two daughters, Linda Kay and Janet Lou. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church from September 1947 until her death.

As a member, she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, was a deacon, elder, and the first female chairman of the Board of Trustees. Carol was a licensed airplane pilot and flew out of San Jose, and Mountain View airports. A member of Chapter K in the P.E.O., and Lincoln China painters. As a girl, she was a Brownie scout. And later a Campfire girls leader.

In college, she was in the Delta Delta Delta sorority and a member of the Tri-Delta Alumni Association. She was an officer in the Temple Chapter 271, of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Earl Lampshire, 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Gordon Heins, Janet and Bruce Hess, four grandchildren and their spouses, 3 great-grandchildren, a brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Dale and Clay Capek, and a sister-in-law and spouse, Ginger and Joe Hageman.

A Memorial Service will be held at Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ Street at 10.00 a.m. Friday (5-10-13). Inurnment will be in the Westminster Columbarium.
