Ruth J. “Jeannie” Whitehead, 80, Lincoln, died Tuesday (1-27-09) in Florida. Born (7-9-28) in Fairbury, Nebraska to James J. and Cora (Crouse) Hargis. Homemaker. Jeannie grew up in Highland, Kansas and attended Highland Community College and Kansas State University where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She was a member of the Board of Directors for Friends of Lied and Lincoln General Hospital. Jeannie gave her time and talent to many other organizations.
Survived by husband: M. E. “Bus” Whitehead; daughters, sons-in-law: Sydney and Steve Uthoff, Houston, TX; Lesley and Kent Jaggers; son, daughter-in-law: Mark and Chris Whitehead, all of Lincoln; grandchildren: Brittany Uthoff, Houston, TX; Kyle and Avery Jaggers, Maddie and Katie Whitehead, all of Lincoln; brother: Sidney Hargis, Highland, KS; sister-in-law: Katherine Rothenberger, Gering, NE. Preceded in death by brother – J.J. “Jack” Hargis.
Memorial Service: 3:30 p.m. Saturday (1-31-09) Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2110 Sheridan Blvd. Rev. Dr. Andrew McDonald officiating.
