Larry Dean Lienemann, 53, of Lincoln, passed away Thursday (5/21/15). Born on 7/16/61 in Kearney, NE to Dean C. and Donna (Daake) Lienemann. Larry was employed with the Lancaster County Dept. of Engineering. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Great Plains Bike Club and Plymouth Owners Club.
Larry leaves behind his wife, Stacey; daughter, Lacey (Kevin) Hanley; son, Seth (Molly) Lienemann; grandsons, Crosley and Fulton Hanley; parents, Donna Beck, Dean and Dixie Lienemann; brothers, Scott (Diane) Beck, Chuck (Tammie) Beck; and sisters, Janet Fowler, Kim Garcia, Gaylene (Joe) Stupic and Michele Jackson; and many loved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by step-father, Kenny Beck and brother, Kenneth Alan Beck.
Larry graduated from Gibbon High School and Milford Southeast Community College. On May 16, 1981 Larry married Stacey Zwink in Gibbon, NE. They have been blessed with two children. He has been a mechanic/welder for 32 years at Lancaster County Engineering Department. Larry loved children and at family reunions he was known to hang out at the kids’ table. Larry was active in Scouting as a Den Leader, Assistant Scout Master and Bicycling Merit Badge Counselor. Larry was very involved in his children’s lives and activities, even after they graduated from high school he embodied Lincoln Northeast High School’s slogan, “Once a Rocket, Always a Rocket” by attending various games and matches, and he was a season ticket holder of UNL Women’s Basketball.
It didn’t matter what the sport or activity was, he would try to be in the crowd to cheer on the participants that he knew. He loved to tinker and create whether it was heavy equipment and welding at work, small engines, or woodworking. Larry was an avid bike rider, riding his bike to and from work and participating in the annual Nebraska United Methodist Bike Ride for Hunger (N.U.M.B.) where he would ride approximately 250 miles in a four day period.
Larry also loved to “give back” by regularly donating blood at the Nebraska Community Blood Bank, donating items to the Mission and donating tools to United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR).
