Geraldine “Jerry” J. Clapper

Geraldine ‘Jerry’ J. Clapper passed away Monday, February 25, 2019. Born November 2, 1927 in Central City, to Joseph & Lucille (Raymond) Garrett. She graduated from Northeast High School, participating as a baton twirler.

She married Edwin D. Clapper, her husband of more than 69 years. They had three children. Jerry was a wonderful, warm, welcoming and caring wife, mother and friend. She enjoyed working as a Para Educator at Pershing Elementary School for 17 years. She loved children and always had a ready hug. Jerry will forever be remembered by her husband Edwin; children, Dr. Dan Clapper (Colleen), David (Kyuri), Dona (Mark) and adopted daughter Konni Anderson; 8 grandchildren, Jaime, Lauren, Michael, Brian, Joseph, Brennon, Charles and Melody, and 10 great grandchildren.

The Huskers lost their biggest fan. Jerry was an avid sports fan, particularly Big Red Football. The Department of Adult Education issued her a certificate of satisfactory completion of a course of study on football. Her instructors were George Sullivan, Selmer, Ross, Huge, Lightbody, Melton, Fisher, Corigan and Dr. Tom Osborn. She followed the Big Red to Hawaii for a game in 1970.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Monday (3-4-19) at Roper and Sons ‘O’ Street Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ St. A visitation will be held from noon until 5 p.m. on Sunday (3-3-19) at Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ St. with family greeting from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m.

Contributions can be made to the First United Methodist Church.
