Sameer Madanshetty

December 2, 1953 - December 3, 2025

Dr. Sameer Madanshetty, a visionary scientist, pioneering technologist, and compassionate advocate for animals, passed away peacefully on December 3rd, 2025, with his fiancée Gina and his cherished pets by his side. Dr. Madanshetty leaves behind a legacy defined by innovation, kindness and a deep commitment to making the world better. A graduate of IIT Delhi and Yale University, Dr. Madanshetty taught at Boston University and Kansas State University and was a longtime member of the Acoustical Society of America.

Driven by curiosity from an early age, he devoted his life to scientific problem-solving and technological advancement. His groundbreaking discovery of acoustic microcavitation—a breakthrough that opened new frontiers in modern particle detection in the semiconductor field—led to the founding of his startup company, Uncopiers, Inc. Under his leadership, the company became known for transforming cutting-edge research into practical solutions, earning numerous SBIR research grants and a prestigious NIST Advance Technology Program award. Those who worked with him remember not only his remarkable intellect but also his humility, humor, and ability to inspire everyone around him.

Outside of his professional accomplishments, Dr. Madanshetty was known for his profound love of animals and nature—especially his beloved Rufus, Font Nine, Chilli the hot pepper, Ketu and KoraLee. Dr. Madanshetty and Gina devoted their time and love to animal rescue and fostered and saved countless animals. This work will continue on in his honor by his loving fiancée in our home.

Dr. Madanshetty is survived by his two loving sisters, Dr. Medha Rao and Professor Sadnaha Choukkar; his cherished niece, Monalisa Godbole and her daughter Anoushka and son Rudra; his two distinguished nephews, Dr. Roheet Rao, and Dr. Harshvardhan Rao and his daughters Aanya and Aavya. His family, friends, colleagues, and the many whose lives he enriched will remember him for the warmth of his spirit, the brilliance of his mind, and the lasting impact of his life’s work.

Dr. Madanshetty was a humble man and did not want a service. He would offer you a cup of tea and great conversation. If you wish to donate to a local animal rescue group in your area, he would be honored.

Sameer, I want you to know that I donated to a local cat animal rescue in your honor tonight. You would be happy to know I rescued my two cats from them the year prior – Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock, twin brothers. They have grown up to be fine and spoiled cats. I remember your dog, Font9, and how you would feed him vegetarian food. He didn’t like it, and my dad and I would always laugh because we’d never seen a dog refuse food. Eventually, you finally relented and gave him dog food with meat. He was a good dog, and you were a good man to me and my family. I also remember you teaching me about some Ayurvedic principles when I was a teen. I remember my dad got kind of annoyed at me because I tried to take your advice and wake up extremely early drinking an entire glass of water befor eating anything because you told me it was healthy. I still do this sometimes. I certainly could stand to drink more water. You were always extremely generous to us, giving us so many gifts. I still have some of the beautiful Indian throws you gave me when I was young. I wish you could have made it to my wedding, but you were already very ill by that point. I think you would have loved it. We had plenty of vegetarian and even vegan options, and lots of good dancing. You will be sorely missed.
