Obituary

Dave Alan DeBoer

November 20, 1970 - February 2, 2026

Dave Alan DeBoer, 55, passed away on February 2, 2026, in Firth, NE. He was born on November 20, 1970, to Larry and Linda (Lefferdink) DeBoer in Lincoln, NE.

Above all, Dave was a loving and caring husband, father, brother and son. He lived his life consistently putting others before himself. He selflessly served his family, friends and coworkers. Dave spent over three decades working at FMNE. He took pride in his work every day and served as a mentor to many.

An avid sports fan, Dave loved playing and watching baseball and football. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. He was a youth sports coach to both of his sons and their teammates. He approached coaching the same way he approached life; steadfast, patient and just a little bit competitive.

Dave showed his love to others through cooking. He was an excellent chef, taking particular pride in grilling. He loved nothing more than having friends and family over to share a meal and play games.

He is survived by his wife, Danelle; sons, Hayden and Harrison; mother, Linda DeBoer; sisters, Beth (Brian) TeKolste and Brenda (Jared) Brock; brothers, Rick (Janelle) DeBoer and Ron (Carol) DeBoer; parents-in-law, Quenten and Deborah Esser; brother-in-law, Quenten (Jen) Esser; numerous nieces and nephews; and his much-loved extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Larry.

A memorial service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at First Plymouth (2000 D St, Lincoln, NE 68502). A private interment will take place in Firth, NE.

Memorials to the family for future designation.

My husband and I grew up with Dave going to Norris. He was honestly always a kind person even when as teenagers some were mean. He was defiantly a great example of a christian his whole life. I have a poem I’d like to share with you. God’s Promise God didn’t promise days without pain, Laughter without sorrow, or sun without rain. But God did promise strength for the day, Comfort for the tears, and a light for the way. And for all who believe in His kingdom above, He answers their faith with everlasting love! It’s our honor to one day see Dave again in Heaven. God’s Blessings to all the family . May peace be with you.

Dave was such a great person from the minute I started Norris again in the 2nd grade. Only kind words regarding every one. I remember he seemed a little shy, but I always knew he would make friends with anyone he crossed paths with. Dave until I see you again, goodbye to a friend and classmate that made school a little brighter and better. Prayers to his family and friends that loved him or crossed his path. You will be missed but never forgotten 💔

Dave was a steady presence in the sometimes high-stress world of insurance claims—calm when pressure was highest and reassuring to everyone around him. He was a true servant leader who encouraged others, stepped in without being asked, and always put the team first. Dave led by example, not words, and his quiet strength and integrity left a lasting impact on all who worked with him.

Growing up and as an adult Dave was Blessed with a wonderful family and friends. May they take comfort in their sweet memories of Dave. The last time we saw Dave was when he greeted us following a Christmas service at 1st Plymouth. Just like Dave, a friendly loving soul. Memories and laughs flowed. We’ll always cherish that last time with Dave. ❤️-Jean and Eldon Schoonveld

While we lived in Firth 25 or so years ago, we were welcomed and became friends with the DeBoer family, and then Dave’s wife Danelle. We are so sorry to hear of his passing. He and his family were a “beacon on the hill” to people in Firth and the Norris area! My condolences to Danelle, his siblings, and to Linda.

Dave was always such a sweetheart. I will cherish memories of us going fishing at the little pond off Firth Rd across from the nursing home as teenagers. May God wrap around all of your family during this difficult time.
