Barb was raised on the family homestead on the west edge of Ceresco in a multigenerational home. Barb graded in 1955 from the Ceresco High School.
During high school, she worked at Nelson’s café in Ceresco. Shortly after graduation, she started working for the State of Nebraska Department of Roads as a key punch operator. Within a few years she was promoted to Cost Accounting where she remained until retirement. She retired after 52 years with the state.
Barb met Walt shortly after graduation. They became engaged on Christmas Day 1960 and wed on July 15, 1961. At the end of the ceremony, while leaving the church, her new father-in-law leaned in a whispered, “he’s your damn problem now.” The union was blessed with a son, Bradley, on April 19, 1962.
Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Nelson, mother, Wilma (Boquist) Nelson Cameron, step-father, Donald Cameron, sister, Carolyn Graham, brother-in-law, Ray Norris, brother-in-law, Larry Samuelson, sister-in-law, Mary Anne Bales, and granddaughter, Katherine Norris.
Barbara is survived by her spouse, H. Walter Norris; son, Bradley (Jennifer) Norris; granddaughters, Elizabeth (Jason) Palmer, Dianne (Robert Branting) Norris; great-grandchildren, MacKenzie Palmer, Jaselyn Palmer, Ethan Palmer, Lucas Palmer, Samantha Norris, Tymothy Norris, Gregory Norris, Theodore Norris; siblings, Janice Samuelson, Richard (Bonnie) Nelson; siblings-in-law, Connie (Fred) Gustan, John Norris, Donnie (Karla) Norris, Greg (Kathy) Norris, Jerry (Mary) Norris, Christine (Joel) Simons; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and their offspring.
Funeral Service will be held 11:00 am Friday, May 8, 2026 at Ceresco United Methodist Church, 421 N. 2nd Street, Ceresco, NE.
Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the Funeral Service at the Church.
Burial following the Service at Sunrise Cemetery, Wahoo, NE.
