Julian was a gifted musician who enjoyed singing, playing the saxophone, and playing the guitar. He liked reading and film, especially epic and fantasy genre works. He had a love of great food and cooked delicious meals for his family and friends. He enjoyed the outdoors, road trips, and camping. He had an uncommonly patient and forgiving nature. He was a dedicated father who put his little one first above all persons and things.
Julian volunteered on trips with his church youth group, providing service in hunger relief, disadvantaged youth programming, and handiwork for elderly homeowners. He enjoyed working as a lights technician for several theater productions and earned membership in the International Thespian Society. He graduated from Lincoln Southwest High School and studied horticulture at Southeast Community College. He was an employee of Midwest Walls and Landscaping.
Julian is survived by his parents, grandparents Ramon and Ruby Cortinas, siblings Gabriel and Elsa Cortinas, son Emilio Cortinas, stepmother Gretel Cortinas, step-siblings Andrea Osorio and Antonella Hernandez, aunts Fern Mattson (Steve) and Gwen Williams (Tahir Sandhu), uncle Carlos Cortinas (Mey-ling), and many extended aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Herman Leonard and Julia Frances Williams, and his uncles Earl and Craig Williams.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 5:00-7:00pm with a Prayer Service at 6:30pm at Roper and Sons South Chapel (3950 Hohensee Dr, Lincoln, NE 68516). A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 10:30am at First Lutheran Church (1551 S. 70th St, Lincoln, NE 68506).
