William “Bill” J. Mangers, but we can all hear him say “My friends call me Bo”, 64, of Lincoln, passed away on September 11, 2026. Born to William and Patricia (Rader) Mangers on September 18, 1961, in Hastings, NE.

Bo never met a stranger. Whether he was swapping stories in the engine room of the Navy’s USS Whipple, keeping the boilers running at UNL and Bryan Health, or making a new friend on the golf course, he brought the same easy humor and loyalty to everything he did. Golf was his true love outside of family — he’d rather be out on the course than almost anywhere else (especially with the Floggers), though on fall Saturdays he made an exception for the Huskers, parked in front of the TV and hollering at every play.

He was the guy who could make you laugh even when he was being a little ornery about it. He carried his Navy pride with him his whole life.

Bill is survived by his wife Jana, his children Krista, Travis, and Alex (Jazmine).

Siblings: Jim Harrington, Ken (Kathy) Harrington, Terry (Teri) Harrington, Alvie VanAmburg, Jim Helton, Rita Schulz, Mary Bishop, Nancy (Rick) Fielder, Paula (Paul) Shafer and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his son Joshua; sister Pam Morgan and her husband John; brothers Jerry and Ralph Harrington; mother Pat Helton; father William Mangers; stepfather Alvin Helton; step brothers Terry and Tom Scott; brother-in-law Dave VanAmburg; sister-in-law Andrea Harrington; nephew Jeff Harrington; and great-nephews Cody Morgan, CJ Morgan and Michael Schulz

Celebration of life will be at Havelock Social Hall, 4538 N 62^nd St. Lincoln, NE from Noon to 4:00 p.m., Friday Sept 18^th.

Memorials can be directed to April Sampson Cancer Center in honor of “Bo” Mangers – he would say buy WD40 for the squeaky chairs.

We met at Washington’s bar in Ft Collins, Colorado. Bill and his Navy buddy Jim Clark were recently discharged from the Navy. It was the summer of 85 I believe. I was up there partying with my brother Daren and Bill and Jim were at the bar drinking with us. From there we all went down to Denver and for the rest of the summer we played golf and drank beer almost everyday. My golf game sucked but every time I landed on the green before Bill id tell him”all I need is a putter”and I’d grab my putter out of the bag and Bill would jump in the cart to go hit his ball. We’d laugh so hard at all the crappy shots we took but every once in awhile we’d make a birdie. What a great summer and I still have wonderful memories of all the fun times we had. God speed my friend and someday I’ll see you on the other side.

I remember visiting my brother Bo & his wife Jana. Bo’s neighbor came up and said Jana & her sister look alike. Bo proudly spoke up and said, she’s my sister. We all had a good laugh, and every moment we shared with Bo was filled with laughter.He will truly be missed. God gives us comfort knowing we’ll see him again in heaven. Our deepest sympathy to Jana, Krista, Travis and Alex.We love you

So many great memories of our Bobo, from golf stories to camping at Harlan County lake where we were swimming and he thought he was attacked by a piranha and carrying him back to shore, will miss you little brother.
