Donna was baptized into the Lutheran faith by Rev. Orville Reeg at Zion Lutheran Church, Rural Hubbell, and was confirmed July 24, 1949, by Rev. G.A. Spring in Hubbell. She graduated from Hubbell High School on May 20, 1953. On July 22, 1953, she was united into marriage to Robert E. Pont and to this union two children were born, Cindy and Jerry.
On March 25, 1964, she was united into marriage to Norman E. Gerken at United Lutheran Church in Lincoln, NE. Donna was a member of the United Lutheran Church since the early 1950s.
She retired after more than 25 years from the Credit Bureau of Lincoln in 1987.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister and brother-in-law, Ramona and Lloyd Luce. She is survived by husband, Norm, daughter, Cindy Mayer, son, Jerry (Mary Jo) Pont, grandchildren, Kellie Knowles, Leah Bond, Jenna Theisen (PJ), and Kylie Pont, and nephew, Kevin Luce.
A Memorial Service will be held on September 17th at 11:00 AM at Roper & Sons Funeral Home, South Lincoln Chapel, located at 3950 Hohensee Dr. A luncheon will immediately follow at the Funeral Home.
