Troy is a graduate of Moody Bible Institute and Calvary University. He spent his entire career as a worship pastor: for seven years at Blue Ridge Bible Church in Kansas City, Missouri, and for the last 22 years at Faith Bible Church in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Troy was characterized by his love for his Savior, his family, his friends and his church. It was his passion for the Lord and music that led him into a ministry where he faithfully pointed others to Christ through worship.
Second only to Christ, was Troy’s love for his family. Troy and Adeana met at a college retreat in 1991 and married in 1994. As sons were added to the family, the love, laughter, adventure and fun only grew. Family movie nights, road trips and terrible jokes were defining aspects of the Friesen family. The later addition of daughters by marriage further increased Troy’s joy. He loved to take long walks with Adeana, golf with his kids, enjoy good coffee, and work on projects around the house and yard.
Troy was preceded in death by his father, Dwight Friesen, and grandchild, Sam Friesen. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Adeana Friesen; sons Caleb (Audrey) Friesen, Micah (Natalie) Friesen, Luke Friesen; mother Vera Friesen; brothers Jared (Elizabeth) Friesen and Scott (Kristen) Friesen; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and other extended family.
If Troy could be remembered for anything, it would be as a guide who helped others to know Christ: His love, His saving work on the cross, and the eternal hope that God gives to all who trust Him. This desire, described in his favorite Bible verse, “He must increase, but I must decrease,” (John 3:30), defined the way Troy humbly & sacrificially led his family and shepherded in worship.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Faith Bible Church (6201 S 84th St, Lincoln, NE 68516). A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Roper and Sons South Chapel (3950 Hohensee Dr, Lincoln, NE 68516). A burial will take place at Cheney Cemetery.
