Obituary

Rick Lee (Taco) Torres

November 8, 1960 - April 1, 2022

Rick Lee (Taco) Torres, 61, of Eagle passed away on April 1, 2022. Born November 8, 1960, in Lincoln, NE to Ray and Elna Torres of Lincoln.

Rich graduated from Waverly High School class of 1979 where he loved playing football for the Vikings one of his most favorite memories. He married his high school sweetheart Chris Rippie on July 23, 1983, in Lincoln. They had one son Adam Torres.

Rick retired from AGP grain elevator and was a proud member of the Air National Guard. His greatest joy was sharing a family catering business with his wife and son for twenty-five years where Rick loved to grill. He loved to watch Adam play baseball any chance he could.

Rick was an avid football fan and loved to watch the Huskers play. He enjoyed horse racing, golf, and his favorite was fishing with his partner and father-in-law Harry. Rick was extremely lucky at the Casino and even won a new truck once. He loved his dog Dixie and cats Little Grey and Jumper who never left his side.

Rick loved to watch old tv shows especially Bonanza which he knew every word to. Rick and Chris loved to travel as much as possible; Cozumel, Mexico was his favorite place to go and to the Kentucky Derby. He was loved by many, and he never met someone he couldn’t talk to. Rick loved to talk and make friends everywhere he went.

Rick is survived by his wife of 39 years, Chris; son Adam, Eagle; sister Chris (Jon) Richard, Lincoln; brother Scotty Boy Torres, Kansas City; aunt, nieces, nephews, and cousins; mother-in-law Wanda Wright, Lincoln; sisters-in-law Jennifer Popp. Lincoln and Katie Wright, Omaha; his best friend Steven Friesen and wife Charlene, Lincoln. Preceded in death by his parents, siblings Deb Myers, Kenny Torres, and Jody Evans, father-in-law Harry Wright, and his beloved dog Harley.

We are comforted to know that Rick is in Heaven fishing with Harry and throwing the ball to Harley.

Share a Memory or Condolence

April 5, 2022

Chris & Adam, Please accept our deepest sympathy and condolences. I enjoyed interacting with Rick when he’d come to the station and drop off catering stuff in the cooler or when he’d come by and fill up his truck he won (trucks and bucks). Your in our prayers!

My deepest sympathy for the Rick Torres family, so many memories from my childhood.. Always looked forward to racing season at eagle races and Sam’s when Rick would be doing the shopping for the catering business, we would talk and share memories, and play catch up.. So loved and enjoyed so many memories.. Rip Rick you will deeply missed. 🙏
