Nancy Platt Sands

October 12, 1924 - January 21, 2010

Nancy Platt Sands, 85, Lincoln, died Thursday, January 21, 2010. She was born on October 12, 1924 in St. Louis, Mo., to Edward Platt and Helen Waldhiem Platt.

A graduate of Mary Institute in St. Louis, and Connecticut College for Women in New London, she worked in New York City before moving to Lincoln to marry Stanley Sands. Nancy served the community as a board member of Family Service Lincoln, the Sheldon Art Association, and Arthritis Foundation. She was a member of the Lincoln Symphony Guild, Lincoln General Hospital Auxiliary, and was a delegate to the 1972 Democratic National Convention. She belonged to the Country Club of Lincoln and resided at The Landing.

Nancy loved needle point, bridge, world travel, and above all else, her family. Surviving children and spouses include Edward Sands of Rifle, Colo., Alan Sands of Phoenix, David and Tracy Sands, Stephen and Mitzi Sands, and Pamela and Doug Ganz all of Lincoln. Her seven grandchildren include Katherine Sands, Andrew Ganz, Michael Sands, Stephen Ganz, Stephanie Sands, Nancy Ganz and Jonathon Sands. She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley and her brother Edward Platt.
