Melba was born on December 27, 1934, in McPherson, KS, to Ernest and Joy Massey. She graduated from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where she was one of only three women to graduate from the business college in her class. It was an early sign of the determination and sharp mind that would define her life.
On January 15, 1958, Melba married James Snyder, and they shared 68 years of a rich, loving relationship. Melba continued her education and later would work as a Certified Financial Planner.
Melba was a devoted Episcopalian, and her faith was a steady foundation throughout her life. Those who knew her will remember her wonderful sense of humor and her eagerness to share laughs with others.
She is survived by her husband, James. Her children, Kelly Brown, James Snyder II and Libby Korell. Her eight grandchildren, Allison, Alexandra, Ben, James, Drew, Sam, Charles and Caroline and 3 great grandchildren, Annabella, George, and Lily. Melba was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Graveside Services will be held on September 29, 2026 at 10:00a.m. at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Lincoln, NE.
