After graduating from Bennet High School, Peggy began studies as a music major at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. On November 22, 1964, she married her high school sweetheart, Alfred Dewey Jensen, at the Bennet Community Church. To this union, they had two sons: Robert Ethan Jensen and Daniel Thane Jensen. Their small family lived for a short while in Decorah, IA, and then in 1971 moved to Flagstaff, AZ, where Peggy and Dewey raised their two boys. Dewey passed away in 1987, and in 1993, Peggy moved back to Nebraska to be near hers and Dewey’s aging parents and to assist them as needed.
Over much of the next 20 years, Peggy was also daycare provider, homework helper, chauffeur, and driving instructor to her three grandsons. She was an avid reader, a “sometimes” writer, and when not busy with the grandkids, could often be found talking (and talking and talking!) or shopping with her sister, Nancy, or on the phone with sister-in-law, Jeri Kettelhut.
Peggy is survived by her son, Thane (Karin) Jensen; daughter-in-law, Rachel (Mike) Dougherty; grandsons, Rowdy (Lexi) Jensen, Yancey (Andy Liddick) Jensen, and Wyatt Jensen; granddaughters, Olivia Dougherty, Juliana Dougherty, and Katherine Dougherty; great-grandchildren, Accalia Liddick, James Liddick, and Nyssa Jensen; nephews, Christian Kettelhut and Danny Ahlvers; nieces, Brandi Kettelhut, Valeri (Neil) Grayson, Julie (Don) Hinds, and Denise (Jon) Jacobmeier; as well as great- and great-great- nieces and nephews, cousins, and more. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Mary (Magnuson) Kettelhut; a stillborn daughter; husband Dewey; son Ethan; brother Rodney Kettelhut; and sister Nancy Ahlvers.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 9, 2026, at Bennet Community Church (350 Monroe St, Bennet, NE 68317). A visitation with family greeting friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Roper and Sons South Chapel (3950 Hohensee Dr, Lincoln, NE 68516).
