I’ve known since grade school, Junior High, and one year at Lincoln Southeast before he went away to Shattuck, and then again at the University of Nebraska where we both pledged Beta Theta Pi. His freshman year he was the outstanding lineman for the Nebraska Football team. After cycling around Europe all summer and losing about 50 or 60 lbs his football career was over. We double dated with him when he met Marilyn…and later after they were married. We moved to Connecticut in 1976 and with children of our own, we all get busy with family. But we did connect with him occasionally when we came back to Lincoln for family reunions of Beta Theta Pi reunions. So many good memories. The Betas of our generation have a Tuesday morning Chat Fest, and tomorrow we will be sharing memories of John!…. _ kai- (John is 3rd from the left in bottom row)

I was John’s floor proctor roommate at Shattuck School our senior year. We played football together there for two undefeated league championship years. John was a truly unique “character”…who became somewhat of a “legend” among his fellow classmates and contemporaries for various “adventures and unconventional actions and activities”. John was an absolutely great guy, well liked and respected by all who came to know him at Shattuck!
