Obituary

Ethel Rosebella Nix

September 9, 1952 - May 15, 2025

Ethel R. Nix, known as “Rose,” age 72 of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2025. She was born on September 9, 1952, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln, to William H. Nix Sr. and Elizabeth (Waller) Nix.

Rose was one of 17 children born to Elizabeth, and from an early age, she stood out for her vibrant personality, sharp sense of humor, and unwavering independence. She walked through life with determination, doing things her own way, always staying true to herself.

She is survived by her beloved children: Lynette D. Nix, Jonathan L. Nix, Dasown G. Nix, Yuson N.E. Nix, and Casey B. Nix; 17 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and 8 siblings. She was preceded in death by her parents, 8 siblings, and her son, Raymond Nix.

Rose had a love for classic cars and found joy in simple pleasures like long car rides, watching movies, shopping, and attending car shows. She had a playful spirit and loved going to the casino and playing bingo. Her favorite color was purple, a color as bold and beautiful as she was.

Educated in Lincoln, Rose attended Riley Elementary, Whittier and Culler Junior High Schools, and Lincoln High School. She was known for her sense of humor, giving everyone a nickname, and lighting up any room with laughter and love.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to honor Rose’s memory in the way she would have wanted—with joy, laughter, and love.

Rose will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever cherished.
