Homer graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in geography and majored in city planning and economics. A skilled and dedicated contractor by trade, Homer spent decades building more than just structures; he built strong, lasting relationships throughout the community. He took great pride in his craft and was passionate about passing down his knowledge and always generous with his time as a mentor to many who were fortunate enough to work alongside him.
Homer’s heart for service extended far beyond his professional life. He was a dedicated volunteer at Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach, helping serve meals and support community members in need. He was also an active member of the local Sertoma Club, continuously finding ways to give back through civic involvement and service programs.
He loved boating, water and snow skiing, fishing, traveling and spending family together time at their condo at Lake of the Ozarks. He also enjoyed his day lilies, his dogs, Fourth of July and Halloween.
Above all, Homer was devoted to his family and loved ones. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Kay; sons, Michael (Karmen) Hoxie and Steven Hoxie; grandchildren, Adam (Taylor) Hoxie, Benjamin (Sahayra) Hoxie, Sasha Hoxie, and Skylar Hoxie; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Mark, and his sister Ginny Hurt.
A celebration of life gathering will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Roper and Sons South Chapel (3950 Hohensee Dr, Lincoln, NE 68516).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be designated to Operation Santa Claus – KFOR.
