The family moved to the Bronx, New York, where he attended and graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School.
Kevin was 23 when he met and courted Valerie Lucas at the tender age of 19. They wed on August 25, 1973, at Travis Air Force Base.
Kevin Douglas proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. During his military career, he served as a cook and was also associated with Air Force Security Police. His years of service included the Vietnam Era and Operation Desert Storm. He was honored with several military awards, including the Air Force Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Southwest Asia Service Medal. His military career was marked by dedication, honorable service, and a commitment to his country. His medals, ribbons, rank insignia, and service badges serve as a lasting reminder of the years he devoted to serving others and his nation.
Kevin was a loving husband and devoted father to his three children, Rashaan Douglas, Lawrence Douglas, and Shemeka Gibbs. He made sure that all of his children were cared for, protected, and loved, and he always put his family first. Kevin took great pride in raising his children in becoming productive, responsible adults. He believed in hard work, respect, and doing the right thing. He also taught his children the importance of family and made sure we stayed close to our relatives.
Kevin peacefully departed this world on Monday, July 20th, 2026. He leaves to cherish his memory his ex-wife, Valerie Douglas; his three children; 6 grandchildren, Joshua, Jakai, Tyra, Jada, Makhi, and Brooklyn; 14 great-grands; 12 siblings; many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will continue to honor and cherish his memory.
Kevin is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Carl and Terry Douglas.

Funeral service: 9:00 am Friday, July 31, 2026, Roper and Sons Midtown Chapel, 4300 O Street. Interment will be at 11:00 am in Omaha National Cemetery.
