The family lived on a farm when his mother passed away when he was 13, eventually he went to live with his uncle Sam & aunt Lillie Zibell, their children Shirley & Norma who were like sisters to him. He joined the Marines at age 17. After returning from serving in the Marines, he met Sharon Tweedy while working at the Oahe Dam at Pierre, SD. They were married November 28, 1959, in Pierre, SD. From this marriage their children were born; Tammy, Myron & Debbie. Deb passed away 8/11/1994.
Lawrence and Sharon lived and worked in SD & Nebraska & have resided in Ceresco since 1969. His main occupation was an iron worker where he was a member of the Local 21 Iron Workers Union. In 1984 he went to work at the US Post Office in Wahoo, NE., retiring from there in 1999. There were other various occupations throughout his life. He was always a good provider for his family.
Lawrence & Sharon spent 16 years wintering in Texas where they met many great friends.
Lawrence was involved in Ceresco American Legion Post #244 where he served as post commander several times, coaching many softball & baseball teams in Greenwood, Ceresco & Valparaiso. To this day many “kids” still call him coach. He loved gardening & had great gardens up until this year & grew enough sweet corn for many families. He was a season ticket holder of Nebraska Cornhusker football games 50+ years, Lawrence & Sharon attended many NE bowl games. He was a loyal Dodgers fan since they were in Brooklyn, family vacations were often planned around Dodger games. He was always available to help his kids & grandkids with anything they needed help with or repaired. In later years he loved going to watch grandkids & great grandkids in sports & every activity they were involved in. He was one of “the original” golf cart cruisers in Ceresco & hauled all kinds of things on it. His love for family included traveling with family members including siblings & spouses, kids & grandchildren. He loved classic country music, homemade ice cream, rhubarb pie & desserts.
Lawrence is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Sharon of Ceresco, daughter and son-in-law Tammy and Jess Sharping of Ceresco, son and daughter-in-law Myron and Lisa Kaiser of Ceresco, son-in-law Clint Coonrod of Lincoln. Grandchildren; Justin and Ana Kaiser of Florida, Tylor Sharping of Ceresco, Blaine and Jessica Kaiser of Ceresco, Jesse Sharping of Lincoln, Kindra and Ricky Tvrdy of Ceresco and Kyle Coonrod of Lincoln. Great grandchildren Cole, Lydia, Gina, Elyza, Izabella, Layla. Brothers Leo Kaiser of Iowa, Leonard Eilers of Texas, sister Judy and brother-in-law Claude Derry of South Dakota, sisters-in-law Iva Kaiser of Wahoo, Pearl Tweedy of Crofton, Norma Tweedy of Florida and Maybelle Tweedy of Fremont. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by daughter Debbie Coonrod, grandson Ryan “Rooster” Sharping, grandson in-law James O’Malley, parents George and Lydia Kaiser, uncle Sam and aunt Lillie Zibell, sister Laverna VanMatre, brother Delbert and brothers and sisters-in-law Francis VanMatre, Kay Kaiser, Marion Tweedy, Darlene & Bud LaCroix, Ben Tweedy, Harold & Arbutus Tweedy, Etta & Loren Lucas, Delores & Merlin LaCroix, Kenneth Tweedy, Donna & Keith Milliken, and Dick Tweedy.
The family encourages you to dress casually and wear Nebraska or Dodgers clothing if you wish.

Funeral service: 1:00 pm Wednesday, July 29, 2026, Immanuel Lutheran Church, 216 Main St, Ceresco, NE. Interment will be at Grace Lutheran in Ceresco, NE.
Visitation with family present from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
