Fran’s family moved to Edwardsville, IL, when he was 5 and Lincoln, NE, in 1957. He graduated from Lincoln Southeast High School and was later inducted into the LSE Athletic Hall of Fame in 2010.
Fran worked at Bruning Hydraulics in high school & then Nebraska Salesbook, Control Data, Foote-Davies/Quebecor, and Walmart.
Fran loved baseball and football and was an avid fan of Southeast sports. He videotaped football home and away games for 11 years and took team and individual player photos.
He was a volunteer coach & commissioner for Little League Baseball and coached Security Mutual Midget football and the Lincoln Comets track.
Fran was inducted into a Lifetime membership of PTA by Holmes Elementary School.
He is a member of Cotner Lodge 297 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Nebraska and Electa Chapter No. 8 O.E.S.
Fran was blessed with 2 sons, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, Louise Blumenstock and Robert Blumenstock, sister, Crystal (Bill) Harley, and brother-in-law, Robert Bovey.
Fran is survived by his devoted wife of 62 Years, Mary Jean; sons, Robert (Jennifer), Dallas, TX, Dr. Bradley (Georgia), Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Dr. Derek (Kimmy) Blumenstock, Lincoln, NE, Dr. Justine (Nathan) Slusarczyk, Lincoln, NE, Hattie
(Austin) Diedrichsen, Norfolk, NE, Audrey Blumenstock, NYC, Pete (Alexa) Bock Blumenstock, Blair, NE, and Rowan Blumenstock, Dallas, TX; great-grandchildren, Bella, Hunter, and Ellie; niece, Lisa Otto and family, sister-in-law, Rosalind Bovey, and nephews, Robert and Stuart Bovey, along with many beloved cousins.
Visitation June 8th 5:00-7:00 pm; Funeral service June 9th at 11:00 am at Roper and Sons South.
Burial following service at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery 6700 S 14th St. and then luncheon back at Roper and Sons South.
Memorials to the family for a Tribute to be created at The Sandhills Global Youth Complex (SGYC) which is the first baseball and softball complex in Lincoln.
