Obituary

Steven Heironymus

January 13, 1956 - May 17, 2026

Steven Heironymus, 70, of Lincoln died Sunday, May 17, 2026, in the presence of his loving wife Sylvia and his compassionate sister-in-law, Laurie.

Steve grew up in Lincoln and was well-known as a professional musician. He and his best friends, Mike and John Paul started their musical career together when they were students at Pershing Elementary School. The Sandy Creek Pickers and the Sandy Creek Band toured and performed in many states as well as locally at venues such as the Pla Mor Ballroom. They delighted audiences with bluegrass and country dance music for over fifty years.

Steve also had a long and successful career in real estate as a sales agent with Austin Realty and Home Real Estate. Talented in photography, Steve also worked as a real estate marketing photographer for many years.

Steve was the son of Richard and Betty Heironymus of Lincoln. Steve is survived by his wife, Sylvia, his brother, Bob, his sister-in-law, Laurie, and his aunt and uncle, Gary and Diane Weyant of Lincoln and his cousin Brian (Becky) Weyant of Gretna, and great aunt Ethel of Chadron, Nebraska.

With love and the comfort in knowing that he rests from his labors, his works do follow him.

Funeral service will take place Thursday, May 28 at 4:00 PM at Roper & Sons South Chapel 3950 Hohensee Drive. Memorials to Nebraska Public Media or KZUM.org.
