Obituary

Linda Luree Stark

April 27, 1952 - June 23, 2026

Linda Luree Stark, 74, of Lincoln, passed away on June 23, 2026. Born on April 27, 1952, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Earl and Ernestine (Craig) Elwonger. Linda’s family moved to Erie, Pennsylvania when she was two years old. She was active in Brownies, Girl Scouts and Sunday School classes and choirs. She learned sewing and craft skills from her mother, which she thoroughly enjoyed her entire life.

After high school, she attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, graduating with an Interior Design degree. During college, she participated in a variety of activities, most notably UNL choirs, food studies and working in the libraries. This was also where she met Alfred. They celebrated 52 years of marriage in May.

Linda loved sewing. She made many clothes for her daughters, herself, and those special outfits for her grandsons. She altered many clothes, for family and others, as well as costumes for church children’s programs and youth dramas. Even created from scratch costumes and costume accessories, whatever needed to make a complete costume. At times over the years, she would receive a phone call plea the day before or even the morning of the wedding, to make alterations of wedding parties’ attire.

She especially loved teaching her daughters and later grandsons to sew. She thoroughly enjoyed South Gate Quilters and knitting shawls with the Strands of Love group, sometimes with the wool she had created on her spinning wheel. Very often she had a craft project on her lap. These projects also included cross stitch, knitting and a wide variety of other crafts.

Linda was in her church vocal and handbell choirs. She enjoyed assisting with various events, including  planning, setup and working the event, be it at school, church, the neighborhood or wherever, and she participated with her bright smile.

Linda is survived by her husband Alfred; daughters Jennifer (Kyle) Sajevic, Lincoln, Heather (Brian) Graham, St. Jospeh, MO; brother Les (Veronica) Elwonger, Trinity, FL; grandsons Caleb Sajevic, Josh Sajevic and Carter Graham, sisters-in-law Patsy (Bill) Barth, Nita (Gary) Wilcox and Rhonda Stark, and numerous nephews/nieces and great nephews/nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law, Randy Stark.

Visitation with family present, will be Thursday, July 9 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at South Gate United Methodist Church, 3500 Pioneers Blvd, Lincoln.
