Obituary

Daniel (Dan the Man) Edward Peters

October 14, 1993 - June 22, 2026

Daniel (Dan the Man) Edward Peters was born in Lincoln, NE, on October 14, 1993, to Brian and Patty Peters. He left this life and entered into the arms of Jesus due to a medical event on Monday, June 22, 2026. He will leave a hole in our hearts as he filled us with laughter, smiles, and his quirky outlook on life.

Mourning his loss are his parents, Patty and Roger Evans of Lincoln, Brian and Kara Peters of Lincoln; brothers, Nate Peters of Lincoln and Keaton Peters of Lincoln; sisters, Kerri Peters and husband, Rob Colon, Joaquin and Aislynn of Champaign, IL, Katie Evans and Emily Regan of Lincoln and Kayla Harlow of Grand Island; grandmother, Sheri Balak of Schuyler, NE; aunts, Terri Holman of Lincoln and Dawn and Woody Gregg of Webster, TX; uncles, Bob and Sandy Bednar of Miller, NE, and Tom and Tami Bednar of Omaha, NE; as well as many cousins, extended family, friends, and co-workers.

Preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Iona Bednar, Don Shafer, Donald and Peggy Peters, Sam Balak, aunt, Sandy Tuttle, and uncle, Donald Bednar.

Dan saw the goodness in life and in people. Since he was little, he would wake up singing with a song in his heart. You could still hear him singing, humming or whistling as he went about his day. He appreciated a beautiful sunrise, posting a lot of them as he headed into the early shift at Lowes. He loved to write poems, stories, and was in the process of writing a play. He loved trying new recipes, watching a good thunderstorm come in (and narrating it), watching the Huskers, and spending time with family, especially his niece and nephew. He was a great listener to many friends and helped where he could as his heart was as big as the state he loved: Nebraska.

Dan’s memory will be with us forever. There are thousands of stories about Dan that show his kindness, goofiness, friendship and how he touched each of our lives.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lincoln Berean Youth Complex (6400 S 70th St, Lincoln, NE 68516). Dan, You were truly a ray of sunshine—the kind of person who could make anyone smile or laugh, no matter the day. You had a heart of gold, and I am so grateful for the friendship we shared. I’ll always cherish the memories from band, marching band, choir, and show choir, along with all the fun trips and adventures we had throughout high school. Thank you for always being the ultimate cheerleader and hype friend. Your encouragement, kindness, and unwavering support meant more than you probably ever knew. You touched so many lives, and your light will continue to shine through the memories we all carry with us. I will miss you dearly. Rest easy, my friend.
