Isla graduated from Huntley High School in 1950 and then attended Lincoln School of Commerce. Uncle Henry lent her $500 for tuition, which she paid back as soon as she finished classes and got a job. Her career included secretary, educator, librarian and years of volunteer service in the church and at RSVP. She was an avid card player – bridge, pinochle, and pitch (yes, the deuce saves itself!), and enjoyed brain games such as Scrabble and Crossword Puzzles.
She married Leon Wallace Kreiner of Davey, NE on June 25, 1954, in her Grandmother Pageler’s Lutheran church south of Wilcox, NE with her sister Phyllis and Leon’s brother Eugene as attendants.
Isla is survived by her children, Kathryn (Wilbur) Doddridge, Kristine (Sean) McKeown, Kimberly (Gregg) Schelske and Kenneth (Deborah) Kreiner; grandchildren Amanda (Tyler) Rand, Chad Schelske, Montana McKeown, Carrie (Joe) Shawfield and Cassady (Donald) Corbin; great grandchildren Waverly Rand, Cayla (Garrett) Connor, Ridge Shawfield, Carsyn Shawfield, Katelyn Henderson, Nathan Bocock, Shawn, Avery and Ariya Corbin; siblings Allen (Missy) Dunse, Gary Dunse, and Rhonda (Glen) Cope; many nieces and nephews.
