Obituary

Pastor Floyd Duane Grant

September 3, 1934 - July 3, 2026

Pastor Floyd Duane Grant, 91, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2026. He was born on September 3, 1934, in rural Malcolm, Nebraska, to Glen and Irene (Fisher) Grant.

Floyd attended a one-room schoolhouse through the eighth grade before leaving school to help support his family. While roller skating one evening, he met the love of his life, Sandra Manke. The two spent countless evenings together at the skating rink before marrying shortly before Floyd was drafted into the United States Army. He proudly served his country while stationed in Worms, Germany.

After returning home, Floyd built a strong work ethic that defined much of his life. He worked for the railroad for more than 20 years before beginning a career with Goodyear, where he faithfully worked for over 30 years until his retirement.

In 1980, Floyd answered God’s call into full-time ministry and started in prison ministry and then founded the Church of Gospel Outreach Ministries. Serving as a Pastor was his life’s passion. Nothing brought him greater joy than sharing the Gospel, serving others, and faithfully leading his church family in their walk with the Lord.

Floyd enjoyed roller skating, square dancing, camping, fishing, hunting, working in his yard, savoring a Runza, and listening to Jimmy Swaggart. Yet above all else, he cherished his family. He deeply loved his wife, Sandra, and later in life found companionship and happiness with his partner, Marge. His greatest joy came from spending time with those he loved.

He is lovingly survived by his daughter, Crystal (Lee) Prewett, grandchildren Andrea (Ben) Truksa, Chastity (Sarah) VonWonder, Ashley Greenwell, and Abbey (Scott) Eller; 15 great-grandchildren; his partner, Marge; his niece, Valerie Hernandez; his nephew, Jason Pence; and many cherished cousins, extended family members, friends, and his beloved church family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Irene (Fisher) Grant; step-father Donald Miller; his wife, Sandra Grant; his sister, Katherine Whisler; his daughter, Tamela Grant; his great-grandchild, Ethan Huckeba.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Roper & Sons South Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Drive, Lincoln, Nebraska. Burial will follow the service. Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the chapel.

Memorials may be directed to The Grace Space.

The service will be livestreamed at roperandsons.com
