Obituary

Bernard G. “Bernie” Logan

July 1, 1926 - January 14, 2019

Bernard G.

Bernard G. “Bernie” Logan, 92, Lincoln passed away January 14, 2019. Born July 1, 1926 in Stockville, NE to Clarence (Pap) and Virginia (LaBounty) Logan. U. S. Navy Veteran serving 24 years. He was a WWII, Korean and Vietnam era veteran. Bernie retired in 1993, after 17+ years as appointed executive secretary for the Nebraska State Highway Commission, serving under four Governors. He was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church and American Legion Post #3.

Bernie graduated from Lincoln Northeast High School in the class of 1944, then joined the Navy. If you asked Bernie, he would say the luckiest day of his life was when he met his wife Blanche. Bernie’s Navy career took the family to Virginia, Long Island and back home to Nebraska. Throughout the families relocations, our family life was filled with joy, happiness, love and fond memories.

Bernie derived his purpose in life by being genuine, hardworking, responsible, disciplined, caring, humble, selfless, congenial and was generous and charitable with his time and energy to help others. He loved to laugh, greeted everyone with a winning smile and had many, many friends.

Bernie always cared more about his family and friends desires and happiness than for his own ambitions.

After retiring as the Executive Secretary of the Highway Commissioners, he and Blanche purchased a 2nd home in Chandler, AZ. They were ‘Snow Birds’ having the time of their life enjoying retirement with many long time friends. Bernie enjoyed being an instructor in the Lapidary Room teaching others to create beautiful clocks and jewelry made from polished rocks. He loved wood working, photography, cars, especially Barrett Jackson Events, collecting antiques and had an impressive collection of antique clocks.

We will smile when we think of him and find rainbows in our tears. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends.

Family members include his sons John Logan, Tom (Barb) Logan and Charles (Jolie) Logan, all of Lincoln; daughter Laura (Mike) Ginn, San Clemente, CA; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren with a 5th on the way; brother Frank (Marilyn) Logan, Lincoln. Preceded in death by his parents; wife Blanche; sisters Marilyn and Eileen; brother Clarence “Dick” Logan.
