Carol Jean Swanson

August 16, 1932 - April 29, 2024

Carol Jean Stewart Swanson entered into eternal rest on April 29th, 2024 at Fallbrook Assistant Living Center in Lincoln NE.

Carol J Stewart was born on August 16th, 1932 to Walter and Lydia (Humm) Stewart in Pawnee City, NE. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Pawnee City High School in 1950. She attended St Elizabeth Radiology Tech School in Lincoln Ne.

She met the love of her life Leland E Swanson at Play-Mor ballroom, they were married March 20th, 1955 in Pawnee City, NE to this union 3 daughters were born Lynne, Kathleen and Amy.

She worked at Dr Hendricks office as an X-Ray Tech in Wahoo for a few years.

Leland and Carol farmed in the Ceresco area for many years. Carol spent many hours helping on the farm especially at harvest time. She also worked part time at Margarets Cafe in Ceresco, and Reliable Services in Wahoo. Carol enjoyed gardening, canning, and raised many chickens. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in rural Wahoo, NE and Ceresco Legion Auxiliary.

Leland and Carol enjoyed traveling much of the USA and abroad making many friends along the way. They also enjoyed weekend camping trips in Nebraska in their later years. She especially enjoyed holiday gatherings with family and always put the needs of others ahead of her own.

She is survived by husband, Leland, of 69 years; daughters, Lynne (Greg) Hahn, of Lincoln, NE,  Kathy (late Peter) Minicz, of Waverly, NE and Amy (Steve) Stanek, of Ceresco, NE; 8 grandchildren and spouses, Tracy and Mark Von Busch, Maggie and Devin Kellogg, Cody Hahn, Jacob MInicz, Julianne and Chris Fant, Allen and Sheila Stanek, Alyssa and Connor Zumpfe and Andy and Aly Stanek;  14 great grandchildren, Xavier, Zaden, Brielle, Brock VonBusch, Emery Kellogg, Aaliyah, Christopher, Addison Fant, Rylee, Jordyn, Nora Stanek ,Brenli and Breckyn Zumpfe, and Lennon Stanek.

Visitation: family will greet friends from 5:00-7:00 pm, Sunday, May 5, 2024 at Metcalf Funeral Home, 245 N. 27th Street, Lincoln, NE.

Memorials to the Grace Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or Ceresco Legion Auxiliary.
