Phyllis’ family moved to Lincoln as she entered 7th grade and then graduated from Lincoln Northeast in 1948 at 16. She attended UNL on a scholarship and by working and completed a Business Administration Major in 1952.
Phyllis was a life-long learner. She sewed professionally and took classes to learn more advanced projects. She became a realtor after Lynn and Harvey, Jr were out of school. When others were playing bridge, Phyllis took classes to be able to participate in the social groups. MaryAnn and Phyllis planned a trip to Germany for a tour and Mom learned German first and tracked down cousins whose father had stayed in Germany when their father emigrated to the US that they were able to meet.
Phyllis was an active member of the church wherever she lived. She was a 52 year member of the Daughters of the Nile. Sesostris Shrine has been an important part of her life through Harvey’s involvement in York and Columbus and through the Widows Club in Lincoln.
But above all that, her family was the most important part of her life – immediate and extended. Having everyone together for holidays was very important, but the little visits made memories too. As active as she was, there was always time for family.
