Eileen L. Kern, 98, of Lincoln, passed away January 31, 2019. She was born June 18, 1920 in Meadow Grove to Roy and Marie (Buccholz) Hunt.
Eileen was a graduate of Lincoln High School and the University of Nebraska. She met Paul D. Kern in 1938 at Grace Methodist Church and they were married in that church in 1943. Paul served as a dentist in the army and Eileen was by his side throughout his service. Eileen was a devoted wife and mother, and was a woman of faith. Together, she and Paul created a loving home in which to raise LeAnn and Doug. They were 50+ year members of Trinity United Methodist and were involved in various dance, bridge, and dinner clubs.
In addition to assisting Paul in his dental practice, Eileen was past president of the Lincoln Symphony Guild, Dental Auxiliary, Junior Women’s Club, and was a member of PEO, FB chapter. She was the owner of Eileen’s Elite Haviland China Matching Service, and with Paul’s help, travelled the Midwest doing antique shows.
A capable and talented woman of style, Eileen was a class act.
Survived by daughter LeAnn, nieces and nephew. Preceded in death by husband Paul, son Douglas, brother Kenneth Hunt, and parents.
Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 11, 2019 Trinity United Methodist Church, 7130 Kentwell Lane.
