Obituary

Susan (Susie) L. Roux

July 11, 1945 - March 24, 2021

Susan (Susie) L. Roux passed away peacefully at her home in Mesa, AZ with her husband and daughter by her side on March 24, 2021. Susie was born on July 11, 1945 in Grand Rapids, MI to Earl and Katherine Powers. Susie grew up in Grand Rapids, MI and attended Central Catholic High School where she was crowned homecoming queen. She spent one year attending Michigan State before transferring to University of Nebraska – Lincoln where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. She graduated with an Early Childhood education degree and worked for A step Ahead. She married Bill Roux in Lincoln on November 21, 1976 when they began their blended family. Susie loved her family so much.

She was an avid sports fan which included anything her children or grandchildren participated in. She loved Husker sports; football, gymnastics, golf, volleyball, baseball and basketball. Over the years she became a huge KC Royals fan and hardly missed watching a game. She loved playing golf and if she couldn’t play, she loved being a spectator. She would even stay up all night during the European Open so she could watch it live.

Susie was preceded in death by her father, Earl, and her mother, Katherine. She is survived by her husband Bill, their four children and 11 grandchildren. Jamie Roux and his four children, Mitchell, Johnny, Sophia and Juliet, Matt Harris (Amy), their 3 children, Sam, Ben and Joe, Ted Harris (Stephanie), their 2 children, Pip and Libby and Amy Benge (Shawn), their 2 children, Jackson and Addie.

We will dearly miss our beloved Queen and matriarch.
