She married Kenneth C. Schuerman on October 9th, 1949. They were blessed to celebrate 50 years of marriage before he was called to his heavenly home. They raised three wonderful daughters; Debra Ellen, Pamela Sue, and Kimberly Ann.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, DeWitt, NE, a “Circle” member and was Dorothy Donut in the Lady Bug Kitchen Band. When Dorothy relocated to Lincoln in 2013, she began attending Messiah Lutheran Church. While there, she enjoyed studying the bible with many new friends whom she grew to love. She also greatly appreciated the kind heart and home ministry of Pastor Dave Loeschen during her last years.
Besides being a mother and housewife, she and Ken owned KD’s Flower Shop in Wilber for 12 years. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, gardening, canning, camping with horses, and volunteering. She felt privileged, for she was able to spend time with each and every great grandchild. She cherished every moment – stating they were her pride and joy and real blessings.
She was proceeded in death by her husband “KC”, parents Fred & Della Henske, 3 sisters; Geraldine LeMay, Lucille Schmidt, Margaret Ziettlow, son-in-law Robert Schneider, great grandson Caleb Guderian, several brother in laws, nieces and nephews. She is survived by Debi Pohlmann, (Ron); Pam Rider, (Jim) and Kim Sasek (Randy). Seven grandchildren: Shawn, (Amber), Colby (Kelsey), Justin; Amber (Dave), Angela (Freddy), Riley, and Mitchell (Alicia). Eleven great grandchildren: Walker, Kennedy, Lincoln & Sawyer Pohlmann; Clara and Corbin Guderian; Brigim and Axel Fogelman, Tobias Zierau; Mason Sasek; and Aspen Sasek. Through Pam’s marriage to Jim, she was blessed with step grandchildren: Jennifer (Travis), Mike (Stef), step great grandchildren, Brayden, Jaicey, and Bode Mayer, Hailey, Blake, Devin, Lila, and Lexi Rider. Brother and sister in laws, nieces, nephews, and a host of many friends. She was lovingly known to many as Grandma Dorothy.
