Richard Dillon

March 27, 1945 - April 26, 2026

Richard Ennis Dillon, 81, of Lincoln passed away on April 26, 2026. Born March 27, 1945, in Lincoln, NE to Ennis and Gyneth Dillon.

Richard was a firefighter for Lincoln Fire and Rescue for 40 years until his retirement in 2007. Upon his retirement, he bought a semi and was an independent driver for Transwood in Louisville for 10 years. When his health declined and he could no longer drive a semi, he became a school bus driver for Waverly. He did this for 5 years before finally retiring for good in 2024.

Rich loved Husker football (and tailgating), college basketball (Go Zags) and car racing, especially NASCAR and Sprint Car. He enjoyed many NASCAR trips with his friends and went to Knoxville for the Sprint Car Nationals for over 50 years. He loved hanging out with friends, having a drink, telling stories, and singing Karaoke. Among his other favorite things to do were camping, blackjack and going out to breakfast.

Family members include his daughter Jennifer (John) Bridgmon, special friend Austin Greiner, and many friends he considered family.

Funeral service 1:00 pm Friday, May 1, 2026, Havelock United Methodist Church, 4140 N 60th St. Interment in Oak Creek Cemetery, Raymond, NE.

Visitation with family present from 5-7 pm Thursday, April 30, 2026, Roper and Sons Midtown Chapel, 4300 O Street.

Memorials in lieu of flowers to the family for future designation.
