Janet C. Joyce, 91, of Lincoln passed on June 25^th, 2026. She was born on December 23, 1934, to Leo and Vera (Thornton) Christensen.

Janet was a former school teacher and homemaker.

Janet is survived by son, Jerry and wife Kathy Joyce of Eagle, NE; Grandson, Greg and wife Cayenne Joyce of Walton, NE; Step-grandchild, Angela Heiden of Kansas City, KS; Sister, Barbara Roberts of Tulsa, OK; Great-grandchildren, Ella Joyce and Taylor Joyce; Numerous nieces and nephews; Beloved caregiver, Hannah Bond; Cherished pup, Letty.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband Jerry Joyce.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Roper and Sons Midtown Chapel (4300 ‘O’ Street Lincoln, Nebraska).

Burial at Weeping Water Cemetery (East F Street, Weeping Water, NE).

Memorials may be directed to the Capital Humane Society.

One of the stories that my mom was just telling me about Janet was she was at home and one of the dogs fell into the swimming pool and couldn’t get out so Janet jumped into the pool to save her puppy pajamas and all now that’s puppy love The first time I remembered meeting Janet was through Town & country real estate Jerry came to our Christmas party dressed with swim trunks of mask with snorkel flippers and the pool cue as I proceeded to open up the door I looked at this gentleman and said huh what the and close the door it went and got my father and let him answer the door Janet said she was so embarrassed she didn’t want to come to the door with him she sat in the car I also remember seeing Janet at all the doll auctions her and I with the love of dolls it was always so cool to see her she’ll be sadly missed

I had the pleasure of being able to work for Jan for many years, taking care of her plants and yard. I loved her so much and she always treated me and my employees with kindness and respect. She was consistently kind, sweet and cute and we all just adored her and loved working at her house because we knew we would be respected and treated well. She loved plants so much and it was fun to see her own arrangements and learn some things from her. I feel so lucky to have known, Jan. She was one of a kind and made the world a better place. She will be greatly missed, much love to you Mrs Joyce, you were the absolute best!!!!! 💕😥
