Duane was born on May 18, 1932, to Wayne and Juanita (Vincent) Shrader in Polk County, Nebraska. He attended school in Lincoln Nebraska at Saratoga Elementary, Irving Junior High, and Lincoln High. After high school he enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served aboard a variety of ships including the USS Bon Homme Richard (CV/CVA-31) and USS Toledo (CA-133) heavy cruiser as Yeoman, attaining the rank of 2nd class chief petty officer.
Duane married Myrlen Ann Coppinger on December 17, 1955. The couple was blessed with five sons and took much pride and joy in their many family and business activities. In 1975 Duane, Myrlen, and their five sons started Shrader Refuse Service in Lincoln, Nebraska and grew it into a successful solid waste and recycling company. At the age of 12, Duane developed strong interest in raising show rabbits and was a life-long member of the American Rabbit Breeders Association serving as a Judge and Registrar.
Duane and his wife Myrlen were long-time active members of Indian Hills Community Church where they had a passion for Bible study and fellowship with the many friends and acquaintances developed over the years. He is survived by sons, David (Sherri) Shrader of West Melbourne, FL; son, Daniel (Jen) Shrader of Waverly, NE; son, Mike (Lanna) Shrader of Eagle, NE; son, Mark (Pam) Shrader of Bradenton, FL; son, Daren (Mary Hickman) Shrader of Placida, FL; 13 grandchildren, Briana, Dana, Katie, Jenni, Sam, Lucrecia, Molly, Guillermo, Julia, Bailey, Maggie, Chase, and Nathan; 10 great-grandchildren, McKinley, Ella, Sophia, James, Ava, Laikynn, Teagan, Austyn Blu, Liam, and Sutton; sisters, Diane (Kenneth) Yakel and Donna (Larry) Rigby.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Myrlen Ann; parents, Wayne and Juanita Shrader; parents-in-law, Thomas and Doris Coppinger.
Funeral services will be held May 2, 2026, 11:00 a.m. Indian Hills Community Church, 1000 South 84th Street, Lincoln, NE with luncheon immediately following. Prior internment Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery Lincoln, NE
