Marlys was a homemaker who enjoyed visiting with family and friends. Despite being visually impaired, Marlys enjoyed gardening, garage sales, and her many beloved pets. During her later years as getting out to church services became difficult, Marlys became a fan of televangelism which she listened to on TV. She enjoyed listening to books and stories on tapes and cd’s and loved listening to her beloved birds. Marlys enjoyed talking on the telephone with family and lifelong friends about anything and everything. Marlys was fiercely independent wishing to stay in her home even after her husband Pete was unable to remain at home with her. Marlys was blessed by family and friends who supported her wishes and helped her in many ways.
